Use Cases in the Real World

Description Speaker(s)

Getting requirements right is increasingly important in today's complex technology environment. Use cases are touted in the industry as a tool to easily drive out requirements that meet users expectations. However, there are a multitude of books published on use cases - how do you know which method will work for your organization? Each book has their own spin on what should be documented in a use case, how to prepare a use case, and what a quality use case looks like. It can be confusing and challenging to make sense of it all.

This session will provide a practical approach to addressing use case. A tried and true method for developing use cases and applying the techniques to projects in the real world. Discover what has worked well on some projects and how to adjust the techniques to meet your organization's needs. Finally, this workshop will detail how to implement these techniques and gain acceptance across your organization.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learning a simple approach for utilizing Use Cases on your next project to help drive requirements
  • Discovering the real benefits of a Use Case approach and how to ensure your projects achieve these benefits
  • Identifying quality characteristics of a Use Case and software requirements
  • Implementing Use Cases in the software development lifecycle at an organization and managing this change.
