The move by companies from a full service model to a self service model resulted in the need for "user friendly" solutions. A new set of specialist skills were required to understand and capture user needs and interaction with the solution.
This increased focus on interaction design had an impact on the traditional Business Analyst role. This new role appeared to overlap traditional BA domain, conducting Business workshops and gathering user requirements. If the Interaction Design approach is not understood it can be seen as duplication of effort by Project Managers and as a threat to their traditional "turf" by Business Analyst.
Using real life examples this presentation compares the similarities in the Business Analyst's and Interaction Designer's role. The increased understanding of each other's skill set will help the Project Manger with their planning and eliminate team anxiety over "turf" wars of gathering requirements.
