This presentation will be a “real life” discussion of the emergence and evolution of the BAT (Business Analyst Team) at a local government. At times, referred to as the “secret society” of the BAT, the individual Business Analysts discovered that working together to collaborate on bigger issues that affect the entire organization, as well as receiving feedback and suggestions to improve processes in their individual areas of responsibility, was much more productive and rewarding than continuing to operate as “Lone Rangers.” Specific before-and-after examples will be included, as well as a discussion of the process of evolution and how it can be replicated.
Learning Objectives:
-
There are unique challenges to a local government structure which inevitably work against “organization-wide” collaboration. This presentation is a testimonial about how it was accomplished at a grass roots level, and lessons learned to apply to any organization (public or private)
-
Actual examples of tangible savings from synergies and avoided duplications, as well as a discussion about the “cost / benefit” question
-
“How to” for intangible benefits similar to a those provided by a PMO, in this case the BAT
